Parties - Allow you to invite a group of friends to join you in games and chat.
Trueskill - For every ranked game you play, TrueSkill finds the best match for your skill level.

If you have never signed up for Xbox live before, you can get 1 months GOLD membership FREE, after this if you would like to continue to use the GOLD service you will need to purchase further months. The subscriptions are available direct from Microsoft, or can choose to use resellers who sell the subcriptions at big discounts over Microsoft.
